New Mega Evolutions in the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A are incredibly powerful, making each of them worth getting to enhance your team. One of the strongest belongs to Mega Zeraora, the pure Electric-type Legendary whose ferocious moves will shock your opponents into submission. However, this Pokémon only joins trainers with similar strength to its own.
Like many of the fresh Mega Evolutions in the DLC, Mega Zeraora can only be obtained once you finish the main story of Mega Dimension. You also need to complete the EX1 and EX2 side missions in the DLC's postgame, which can be claimed through Mystery Gifts in the game. Once you've done missions tied to Diancie and Mewtwo, you'll have the right circumstances set up to encounter Zeraora.
How To Find Zeraora In Legends Z-A
Make The Right Food To Find Where The Legendary Is Hiding
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ansha and Hoopa making Plasma Glazed Donut for encountering Zeraora
Finding a way to Zeraora is mainly done through the variety of food you can obtain in Legends: Z-A. Oddly enough, you have to purchase different snacks and ingredients first, including some that are a bit harder to find. With how emphasized donut types in Mega Dimension are to unlock particular encounters, perhaps this won't be surprising by the time you finish the DLC story.
The first step here involves purchasing Canari Bread from the NPC Tarragon at Racine Construction. This ingredient can be bought easily for ₽1,300, but you'll want to simply hold on to it for now. After getting Canari Bread, climb up to the rooftops in Vert Sector 3 and talk to a young boy at the end of a building. This person is easier to reach if you head north from Café Cyclone, which has a teleporter that'll put on in the high reaches of the city.
Once you reach the boy, you can exchange the Canari Bread for a packet of Popping Candy. This popular candy is said to pop in your mouth when tasted, giving you a "shocking" experience while eating it. The Popping Candy will unlock a new donut recipe with Hoopa and Ansha back at Hotel Z, which you'll need for Zeraora.
You are free to hold off on finding Diancie and Mewtwo until after you get the Popping Candy, but make sure you do so if you haven't after getting the ingredient. The recipe you need will only be available with Ansha if both the other Legendary Pokémon have been encountered.
Much like how some donuts would let you find new Mega Dimension Pokémon, a new recipe will help you find Zeraora. The Plasma Glazed Donut from Ansha's recipes will unlock a new rift leading to Zeraora, making it the item you'll want her to craft. To do this, you need to meet certain flavor requirements, which include:
- 40 Sweet
- 200 Spicy
- 400 Sour
- 280 Bitter
- 40 Fresh
Some ingredients make fulfilling the flavor requirements easy, such as Hyper Berries, which add a lot of points to any category. As a 5-Star donut, it'll take several ingredients to match the demands of the recipe, but you should hopefully have enough stored up from the DLC's story to make the right donut.
How To Get Zeraora And Zeraorite In Legends: Z-A
Defeat An Impressive Boss For An Electrifying New Team Member
Zeraora roars next to its trainer in Pokemon Legends ZA.
Making the donut will start the "EX3: Raging Lighting" side mission, where Hoopa will create a new portal for you to travel through. When you have the donut ready, go to Gare de Lumiose and speak to Emma to progress the quest further. Doing this will allow you to enter Hoopa's new portal with Emma and Korrina, leading you face to face with Zeraora.
Much like with Mega Darkrai in Legends: Z-A, you need to defeat the Rogue Mega Zeraora through the portal to capture it after the battle. A special encounter with the Pokémon dazed takes place once you beat it, giving you an automatic catch if you win. Yet, this Mega Zeraora is a Level 200 boss, meaning the battle against it won't be easy.
The best way to take down Mega Zeraora is to bring at least a few strong Ground-type Pokémon. Ground-type attacks deal super-effective damage to the Electric-type Legendary, while its shocking attacks don't affect Ground-types at all.
Fighting Mega Zeraora through the rift is made slightly easier when you consider you have Emma and Korrina facing the boss with you. This encounter works like any other Rogue Mega Pokémon, albeit with a much harder challenge considering Mega Zeraora's Level. Pokémon need to be close to Mega Zeraora's Level to succeed in beating it, otherwise you'll have a slim chance at getting the Mythical creature.
When you do eventually beat Mega Zeraora, you'll not only catch it, but also receive the Zeraorite Mega Stone in the process. This lets you use Zeraora and Mega Zeraora in battle however you please, utilizing the Legendary's impressive stats to your advantage. Mega Zeraora is an attacking machine, with 157 Attack, 147 Special Attack, and 153 Speed to make it a swift damage dealer that works on nearly any team.
Managing to get Zeraora will end the EX3 side mission, opening up new ones tied to other new Mega Pokémon. While finding Mega Zeraora is half the battle in Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC, the ability to get its Mega Stone at the same time makes the effort worth it.
