Mayor of Kingstown season 4 finds Mike McLusky's grip on the titular town beginning to slip as rival factions move in to claim the power vacuum left by the Russians, igniting a gang war that threatens to consume the town. As the violence escalates, Mike is forced to work with a headstrong new warden while confronting the ghosts of his past.
Other than Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Mike McLusky, Mayor of Kingstown season 4's cast also includes Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, Nishi Munshi, and Necar Zadegan. Season 4's new cast members include Laura Benanti, Lennie James, and Edie Falco.
In ScreenRant's review of Mayor of Kingstown season 4, Grant Hermanns writes, "I'm awed by how good Jeremy Renner's series has become in its best season yet... Season 4 is back with some of the darkest and most intense storylines yet, putting the series at an all-time high."
In ScreenRant's review of Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 8, Greg MacArthur writes, "This 10/10 thriller masterpiece just officially peaked... 'Belleville' marks the season-high point of a series-high season for this crime thriller masterpiece."
Jeremy Renner's Mike walking away from a burned-out building in Mayor of Kingstown season 4
Overall, critics agree that season 4 doubles down on what Mayor of Kingstown does best – amplifying its menace, corruption, and relentless tension. While the show remains brutally grim, reviewers note a sharper focus and tighter storytelling, suggesting that the series has refined its voice rather than repeating itself from earlier seasons.
Several reviews call season 4 the show's strongest yet, praising its heightened emotional stakes and sustained suspense. Compared to earlier seasons, the threats feel more personal and urgent, the performances more confident, and the narrative more controlled –reinforcing why Mayor of Kingstown season 4 has debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.
