The Seattle Seahawks announced their captains for their Week 16 matchup hosting the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday afternoon, around 48 hours before the primetime kickoff.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ernest Jones IV, and Jason Myers will lead the team’s three phases into battle in their biggest game of the year on Thursday Night Football.

Jones is a former Ram himself, but now brings the entire Seattle defense together with some of the best communication from the middle linebacker spot of anyone in the NFL. He connects the front seven to the back end and has as many reasons to be a captain in this game, on- and off- the field, as anyone. He recently admitted to hating Seattle from the Rams side of the rivalry, having battles with Kenneth Walker III, and now believing it’s the best thing that’s happened to him.
Myers is the second longest tenured Seahawk behind only his kicking mate, punter Michael Dickson. He scored all 18 of the Seahawks points last week in one of the best kicking performances the franchise has ever seen. He was inches away from another of them in this rivalry’s first matchup of the season, where he made four straight field goals before missing a 61-yarder for the win as time expired. He’s a clear leader, one of the best kickers in the league right now, and gets to lead in a massive chance for revenge.
