Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere has set a digital release date. Starring Jeremy Allen White, the Bruce Springsteen biopic debuted in theaters on October 24 to divisive reviews from critics, and only played in theaters for a little over a month.
Now, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is coming to digital platforms on December 23, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. It also releases on 4K Blu-ray on January 20, both of which include an exclusive four-act documentary about the making of the movie. The four acts include:
Act 1: From Book to Screen — See how Warren Zanes’ moving book inspired filmmakers to bring Bruce Springsteen’s most intimate chapter to life on screen.
Act 2: Beyond the Music — An intimate look at Bruce Springsteen’s raw and enduring masterpiece "Nebraska" — its sound, spirit, and powerful influence on the film’s tone and emotion.
Act 3: Becoming Bruce Springsteen — Jeremy Allen White dives deep into the mind and music of Bruce Springsteen, capturing the grit, grace, and humanity that define the icon’s artistry.
Act 4: Deep Authenticity — From vintage wardrobe to the Asbury Park boardwalk, experience how the filmmakers captured the raw soul of Bruce Springsteen’s New Jersey.
Since Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is from 20th Century Studios, a subsidiary of Disney, it should eventually be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
Written and directed by Scott Cooper, Deliver Me from Nowhere chronicles Bruce Springsteen's personal and professional struggles during the making of his 1982 album Nebraska, a raw and haunting acoustic record recorded on a 4-track recorder in his New Jersey bedroom.
The film is based on the 2023 book Deliver Me from Nowhere by Warren Zanes, as well as some elements from Springsteen's autobiography Born to Run.
Two-time Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) stars as Bruce Springsteen alongside Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong (Succession, The Apprentice), Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Emmy winner Stephen Graham (Adolescence), Odessa Young, Emmy nominee Gaby Hoffmann (Transparent), Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, Harrison Gilbertson, Grace Gummer, Chris Jaymes, and Johnny Cannizzaro.
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere received mixed reviews, resulting in a 60% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it a moody biopic that frequently plays like the lesser-known tracks of a remarkable career, though it's elevated by standout performances from Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong.
For his performance as Bruce Springsteen, Jeremy Allen White was recently honored with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.
With a stronger 82% score, general audiences felt that Deliver Me from Nowhere strikes a raw and intimate chord in its portrayal of Springsteen's life, vividly tracing the emotional turmoil that gave rise to his iconic Nebraska album.
However, Deliver Me from Nowhere vastly underperformed at the box office by grossing only $45 million and failing to make back its $55 million budget. While Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere struggled to find a wide theatrical audience, it could find a more receptive audience on digital platforms, where intimate character studies often perform better than at the box office.
