One star from James Gunn’s 2022 DCEU film, The Suicide Squad, has finally addressed their potential return in the new DCU. Gunn’s rebooted Suicide Squad brought back several cast members from the controversial 2016 film, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag Jr. It found some of its biggest fan-favorites in the newer stars, though, such as Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, John Cena’s Peacemaker, and Daniela Melchior’s Ratcatcher 2. The trio gives the film new life that was absent in its predecessor, and now one of the stars has broken their silence about a potential return under Gunn’s new leadership.

Collider’s Aidan Kelley caught up with Daniela Melchior recently at the premiere of her new movie, Anaconda, and he asked if she would jump at an opportunity to play Ratcatcher 2 again. “I’m waiting for them to call me,” she said. “I’m just patiently waiting.” Kelley floated out the idea of Ratcatcher 2 coming back in a potential HBO Max original series, like Lanterns or Peacemaker, and Melchior was completely on board with the idea, “I've been manifesting. Just let it. Let’s light a candle.” We’re all thinking the same thing here, James. Make the call.

James Gunn has a history of working with the same people he enjoys and considers reliable, and all signs point to Melchior fitting right into this category. Melchior even had a brief cameo in Gunn's MCU swan song, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The return of her Ratcatcher 2 from The Suicide Squad may be more a matter of when than if. Gunn is likely waiting for the right time to reintroduce the character to avoid her return feeling forced. He might as well bring back Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, too, right?

Who Else Stars in the ‘Anaconda’ Reboot?

Anaconda (2025) is a remake/reboot of the 1997 film of the same name starring Ice Cube and Jennifer Lopez. Jack Black and Paul Rudd lead the new Anaconda movie, along with Silo veteran Steve Zahn. The film hits theaters this Christmas. Melchior has also starred in several other major projects since her DCEU debut as Ratcatcher 2, including roles as Isabel in Fast X, Ursa in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Ellie in Road House (2024).

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of James Gunn’s DCU and the new Anaconda, which debuts on Christmas Day 2025.
