Makuochi Echebiri is a News Writer for Collider. He has been interested in creative writing from as far back as high school, and he would consume pretty much anything that’s film or TV. However, his truest love lies in the presence of historical epics and thrillers.
Lured by the brilliance of Middle Earth from an early age both in print and on screen, his palate has since expanded to other realms including Westeros, Kattegat among others. He also possesses a great appetite for the stories that emanate from the vastness of space. Even though he is no Avenger.
Obsessed with storytelling and having works of his own that have yet to make it to print, he is content to use that ability to communicate to as many as are reachable. In his spare time, he looks out for avenues where he can aid people aside from his plans to reign over this earthly realm. Yes…you heard that first here.

Amazon has been working to bring to life some of the most iconic stories ever told. While still working to adapt a portion J.R.R. Tolkien's work with the Prime Video series, Rings of Power, it has added an all-new take on an iconic tale with Amazon MGM+’s new original series, Robin Hood. A classic English tale retold many times over in live-action, animation, and on the written pages throughout history, Robin Hood still holds significant appeal despite the passage of time. With its epic backdrop and underlying nudging towards the mystical, Robin Hood has, since its premiere in early November, gone on to become a streaming hit. Dominating MGM+'s top ten list as proof of the tale's enduring appeal.
As part of its rise to prominence on streaming, Robin Hood has, according to FlixPatrol, flexed its muscles on three other fantasy franchises recently. On MGM+'s Top 10 list, Robin Hood currently holds top spot, beating off competition from heavyweights such as Outlander and The Hobbit. Two of Robin Hood's main characters in Robert of Locksley and Marian of Huntingdon, are reminiscent of Outlander's Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan). The new Amazon MGM series also surpasses other new series with ties to established franchises, with Outlander: Blood of My Blood and Spartacus: House of Ashur coming in behind it.
The famous English tale has been retold many times, with Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott's 2010 live-action feature film version currently streaming on Netflix. Beyond the new Amazon series, the iconic tale will be retold in yet another unique manner with Hugh Jackman’s 2026 film, The Death of Robin Hood, which is expected to hit theaters before 2026 comes to a close. The film is directed by Michael Sarnoski, with Jackman working alongside Bill Skarsgård (IT: Welcome to Derry) and Jodie Comer (28 Years Later). Recently released images point towards an unorthodox take on the story of Robin Hood.
Will There Be a Second Season of 'Robin Hood'?
Amazon’s new Robin Hood series is packed with recognizable stars, like Game of Thrones icon Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Jack Patten stars in the titular role of Robin Hood, and other major figures in the series include Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as Earl of Huntington, and Connie Nielson as Elanor of Aquitaine. Lauren McQueen stars as Rob's love interest, Marian.
This version of Robin Hood was created by John Glenn and Jonathan English. The series seems to be performing well, but the question of Season 2 remains an open one, as Amazon is yet to announce if the show will be renewed or canceled. Patten, in a recent interview, however, showed an interest in returning for more of the famous outlaw:
“We would love to do a [season] 2. That would be awesome. Jonathan [English] and John [Glenn] just wrote awesome characters. As actors we love an arc, you can't ask for much more.”
New episodes of Robin Hood stream on MGM+ on Sundays. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
