How did you get your start in real estate?

Shortly after graduating high school, I began my professional journey at a life insurance company, eventually becoming a licensed sales agent. I found success in that field, even as I explored entrepreneurial ventures, particularly in the beauty industry, where I went on to own and operate a thriving spa in Atlanta.

While the spa business was rewarding, I felt a growing desire to pursue something more personally fulfilling. That desire led me to real estate.

In my first year in the industry, my husband and I built our first semi-custom home, introducing me to new construction. The experience was eye-opening, and the knowledge I gained from working with an expert builder, combined with my love for sales and marketing, sparked a deep passion.

That moment became the catalyst for what has now been a long and successful career in new home sales and marketing.

How did you choose your brokerage?

After successfully running my own brokerage for several years, primarily to support my work in new home construction sales and marketing, I found myself at a crossroads when the housing market slowed dramatically in 2008–2009. It became clear that navigating the downturn would require a strategic shift and the right partnership.

That’s when I connected with Kevin Levent, broker of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers, one of the largest and most respected brokerages in metro Atlanta. His forward-thinking approach, especially around technology, systems and leveraging market trends, immediately resonated with me.

Our conversation reignited my passion for the industry and gave me the clarity I needed to pivot. Joining BHGRE Metro Brokers gave me the tools, support and platform to not just survive, but thrive in a changing market.

Fourteen years later, I’m proud to still be with the brokerage, and grateful for the continued support I’ve received with my production success and every phase of my leadership journey.

What do you wish more people knew about working in real estate?

I wish more people understood that real estate is less about selling and more about serving people during one of the most important moments of their lives. Buying a home is often the biggest financial investment someone will ever make and for many, it represents more than just property. It’s security, legacy and a piece of the American dream.

Realtor professionals have the honor and responsibility of guiding people through that journey. It’s about trust, resilience and relationships. The most fulfilling part isn’t the transaction, it’s knowing you helped someone take a meaningful step toward stability, wealth-building and a future they once only dreamed of.

What’s something you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

I wish I had fully understood and emphasized the immense value of professional representation in the homebuying and selling process from the very beginning. Early in my career, I focused heavily on the transaction itself, not realizing how critical it is to educate clients on the expertise, strategy and protection a seasoned real estate professional brings to the table.

It’s not just about showing homes or writing contracts, it’s about advocacy, negotiation, navigating complex decisions and safeguarding what is often the biggest investment of someone’s life.

Looking back, I would have led every conversation with that value proposition, because once clients truly understand it, everything changes. You become more than just an agent; you become a trusted advisor.

What’s your top tip for newly formed teams?

Lead with trust and collaboration. Don’t skip the foundational work of defining your team’s vision, values and communication styles. Real estate is fast-paced, but a strong team culture with clear and adaptable vision and values will carry you further than any individual achievement.

Name 3 people you admire

Maya Angelou: I deeply admire Maya Angelou for her unwavering faith, grace and ability to inspire through both words and presence. Her resilience, wisdom and commitment to truth-telling have left a lasting legacy—not just as a poet, but as a powerful voice for dignity, courage and purpose.

Steve Jobs: Steve Jobs’ bold, innovative spirit has always inspired me. His relentless pursuit of excellence and design revolutionized how we live and communicate. But what I admire most is that, behind the visionary mind, there was a quiet humility and focus that kept him grounded in creating meaningful impact.

John Maxwell: As a lifelong student of leadership, I’m continually inspired by John’s passion for growth, development and empowering others. His teachings have helped shape my leadership journey and my belief that true leadership is about lifting others up and creating opportunities for them to thrive.

Each of these individuals has, in their own way, influenced how I lead, live and serve: with heart, vision and purpose.
